Torremolinos leads the increase in national tourism throughout Spain with more than 339,000 overnight stays in July

The mayor of Torremolinos, José Ortiz, today described as “excellent” the data that place the city as the tourist destination in all of Spain that has increased the most in national tourism last July. Specifically, and as published by a national media outlet, 339,494 hotel overnight stays by Spanish tourists were registered, 116,986 more than in the same month of 2019, in the summer prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thus, the mayor has assured that “these data support the city project that we have for Torremolinos as a safe and quality destination in which we continue to work”, recognizing the role of the tourism industry and especially the hotel, hospitality and leisure sector , “How bad they have been for a long time.” “Although we still have one last effort to overcome this pandemic, we can verify that tourism in Torremolinos is in very good health, we continue to be leaders and this encourages us to continue working with all our strength and enthusiasm,” he said.

In addition, the City Council has made public that since last January there has been an increase of 28.7% in Social Security affiliates in the municipality, going from 16,792 in January to 21,586 last month; 4,794 more people.
