The Komondor is a dog breed originally from Hungary, also known as the Hungarian sheepdog, which was traditionally used as a guard dog.
The komondor is a large dog with a robust build with a minimum height of 65 cm.
Its most outstanding characteristic is its always white, long, thick coat that hangs in long locks reminiscent of dreadlocks or the bristles of some types of mop.
The komondor is a calm and collected dog, as long as the situation is normal. In case of danger, he will bravely defend the herds under his charge, this instinct is also reflected with his family and territory, which he tends to protect.
In Hungary, this animal was very important for a long time, as a herding and guardian dog, until today it has become one of the country’s pets par excellence.
During the Second World War the German army massacred a good number of Komondor dogs, which put the breed in serious danger of disappearing.
